Hello! Welcome to Teaching with a Geographic Lens - a geography information and resource guide to help K-12 teachers integrate geographic thinking in their curriculum.  The resources you'll find here are made possible by a generous grant from The National Geographic Society and the hard work of Salt Lake City School  District teachers.

Did you know geographic thinking can be integrated into any content area?

Students are naturally curious about the world - so why not capitalize on their curiosity and bridge your instruction with geography education?  By teaching with a geographic lens you support students with:

  • deepening literacy and numeracy skills
  • engaging in critical thinking
  • creating a sense of curiosity and responsibility towards their community and the world
  • empowering them to make a difference
  • collaborating to problem solve
  • becoming globally competent

The resources are designed to support teachers  without a geography background,  but if you're a geography teacher or curriculum specialist you might find some new and exciting resources, too.  Be sure to read the Overview to find out how to navigate the resources .

Let's get started!
