The Backman Elementary is a Title I school in Salt Lake City School District.

The sixth grade team at Backman Elementary worked together to integrate the National Geographic Geo-Inquiry process across each discipline: science, social studies, ELA, and math.  As a result, each sixth grade student had the opportunity to explore the Great Salt Lake and investigate a geography question meaningful to them. The team started the process with their students in January and students presented their call to action in June during their sixth grade promotion.

The links in this module provides an planning overview of the  geo-inquiry process, along with a PowerPoint teachers used with students, and other organizational documents and materials used with students.
