West High School is a very diverse high school in Salt Lake City School District. Ms. Suzanne Arthur's ninth grade geography class participated in the National Geographic Geo-Inquiry process to make a call to action for a safe walking route to school.

Students were concerned about having to navigate some very unsafe obstacles on their way to school, such as an overpass and train tracks. After conducting the geo-inquiry process, students called on their school community council to bring attention to this issue and to enlist their help in identifying a safe walking route for students who do not qualify for a bus pass.

This module includes an introduction PowerPoint to Urban Geography, an overview of Ms. Arthur's planning and many of the documents and materials she used with students.
